Korea's LS Cable & System and its Vietnam-based subsidiary, LS Eco Energy, will supply $25 million worth of aluminum electricity cables to a US solar power facility company, LS Cable & System announced Thursday.
The 35,000-volt aluminum cables will be used to construct power grids for solar power complexes across multiple states, including California, New Jersey, and Indiana. LS Cable & System did not disclose the name of the client company.
The deal marks a milestone in LS's US exports, which have primarily focused on network cables, signaling the company’s efforts to expand its presence in the electric cable market.
According to LS, the cables offer high durability and stable electricity transmission, even under extreme conditions such as high temperatures, heavy precipitation, and dust, making them suitable for a wide range of environments.
The company also emphasized that its cables are free of Chinese metals, positioning itself as a reliable supplier amid US efforts to reduce dependence on Chinese materials in industrial supply chains.
“LS’s cable-making affiliates — LS Cable & System, LS Eco Energy, and Gaon Cable — do not use Chinese aluminum or copper to ensure product quality and a stable supply,” said an LS Cable & System official.
As the US solar power generation market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 4 percent through 2029, LS stated that it will continue enhancing the quality of its products for solar power grids while expanding its broader electricity infrastructure business.
