Cosmax BTI, a holding company of South Korean cosmetics manufacturer Cosmax Group, announced Wednesday the appointment of Hou Min-ho, former CEO of CJ ENM's Commerce Division and CJ Olive Young, as vice chairman.
A seasoned expert in cosmetics and retail, Hou is recognized for his strong communication skills and ability to drive new business initiatives, the company explained.
“There will be many changes for Cosmax, the world’s leading cosmetics original development manufacturer, over the next decade. The pace of change among global customers, who are always seeking something new, may outstrip our own development speed,” said the vice chair.
“While prioritizing innovation and speed, I will do my utmost to ensure that Cosmax remains at the heart of K-beauty’s growth engine.”
Beginning his career in 1989 at Samsung Group, Hou gained extensive experience in the retail industry, working at Shinsegae Group and Dongwha Duty Free.
He later served as CEO of CJ Olive Young for a decade starting in 2008, during which the beauty retailer expanded its presence from 40 to 1,100 stores and significantly improved profitability under his leadership.
Hou took on the role of CEO at CJ ENM's Commerce Division in 2018, where he spearheaded the mobile-centered live commerce market through CJ OnStyle, demonstrating his management acumen by driving profitability.
